As a person looking for battery longevity, this laptop quickly came to the top of my list. I do not use the laptop for a solid 8 hours -- it's not a work PC. However, I do use it on and off throughout the day and for mixed purposes (email, web browsing, watching videos). I have been able to go up to 3 days without recharging depending on my usage. When not in use, the laptop is in sleep mode - not shut down - so that I can open it back up and resume use. The battery consumption in sleep mode is extremely efficient. During a trip, the laptop was in sleep mode for nearly 20 hours before I opened it up again to use. The available battery life lost was about 2%. The screen, though not OLED, is also really good, providing ample brightness. The audio quality also sounds really good, though not as good as a current MacBook Pro. Some other non-essential but nice-to-have items like cases, screen protectors for the touchscreen, and keyboard covers are also available from various retailers, making it easier to keep scratch and dirt free. Once again, very similar to MacBooks. The only downside may be software compatibility. Definitely do your research and make sure the software you want to run will work on Windows-on-ARM CPUs like the Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite. If you need more SSD space, it is easily upgradable for those who are tech savvy. Directions on how to create a backup image (or recovery media) and to install a new SSD are readily available from the Microsoft website (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/surface-ssd-removal-guide). Best Buy also sells a WD SN770 2TB 2230 SSD that fits nicely in this laptop and is the one I used to replace the 512GB SSD the laptop came with. If battery life is essential and CPU compatibility isn't an issue, the Surface Laptop 7 offers great value for your money. The value is even greater when the laptop is on sale (such as at the time of the writing of this review). Overall, I'm very happy and impressed with this ARM PC. About the attached image: Image shows the laptop with a black protective case, glass screen protector, and keyboard protector. Not essential, but nice to have on a PC intended for traveling.

As an avid writer, this is the perfect laptop for me. I have been using it for just over a month. I’ve found my favorite things and somethings that may not be for everyone. Well start with my list of pros: Battery Life 5/5 I am in my laptop ALL the time. Like for hours and as a result I only have to plug it in after high usage once a day. Now, coming from a laptop that had 5 hours of battery life before, this is a dream. If I’m not doing mild video watching, editing, or streaming, it easily could last longer and I probably wouldn’t have to use the charger a second time. Soft Touch Keyboard 5/5 Controversial, but the soft touch keyboard is SO NICE. Now if you’re the type of person who likes a soft keyboard, where it doesn’t click, it doesn’t have the extra bounce mechanical does, and it’s more flat, this is perfect. That’s what I personally want. I don’t want my fingers to bounce while writing. I end up hitting other keys and it’s so annoying. This doesn’t happen here. I will say, my sister HATES soft touch. She hates using my computer. Which, fine, it’s my personal preference. Touchscreen 4/5 I had a Lenovo Thinkbook for about 5-6 years that was touchscreen. I loved it. It’s so nice to scroll and you don’t have to carry around a mouse. It was one thing I looked for in a laptop actually. This blew my old laptop out of the water. It’s so smooth! The only thing is the reflective screen does show fingerprints easier from the side. But I just use a microfiber cloth here and there. Design 4.5/5 Lightweight, beautiful, soft close, sleek, light blue color, backlit keyboard. I love the design. The only thing is when sitting on a couch or somewhere that’s not a flat surface, it’s awkward with how sleek it is. Coming from a writer who sometimes likes to write on the couch. Cons Light Reflection 2/5 Now, I love the screen. It’s beautiful. I personally don’t sit outside with my laptop. So this isn’t a huge issue for me. However, it does reflect light a decent amount. So keep that in mind. Processor 3/5 This is absolutely NOT a gaming computer. I have a gaming PC. So I didn’t need it to be. I knew that going in. I did attempt to download Steam for my interactive Wallpapers. Nope. It slowed everything down so much. This is not a gaming PC at all. I haven’t tired other games because my Wallpapers were so low on the processor that I thought maybe. But I quickly uninstalled. However, minimal video editing it does seem to be decent. On the low end. Overall Laptop Rating: 4/5 My Personal Needs: 5/5
